Huck Seed

Who is Huck Seed? Little is commonly known about the quiet 6-foot-7 American.

Heading into the final table in 1996, the World Series of Poker listed him as a 27-year-old pro from Las Vegas. Little did anyone know he would go on to outlast Men “The Master” Nguyen and John Bonetti, taking the gold bracelet and the big $1-million prize.

Seed is said to be a former student of electrical engineering at Cal Tech, although he dropped out in 1989 to play poker and never returned. He is also apparently a fan of proposition bets.

According to Phil Hellmuth, Seed bet him $10,000 that he could float in any “body of water” for 24 hours straight, given a wetsuit. He lost, but he won $24,000 from Hellmuth by flying to his house in Madison, Wisc. and beating him at 9-ball.

Seed has three WSOP bracelets in total heading into the 2005 event, earning over $2.25 million in tournament poker (and much more in cash games, according to at least one fellow player).
